Begun in 2018, GIORNATA has been produced primarily in the form of a newspaper, where texts intersect as diary entries, artistic research notes, pseudo-journalistic articles, literary criticism, recipes and poems mixed with drawing, graphic design and conceptual contextualization.
Functioning as both a communicative tool or a side project as well as a work of art in its own right, the format of GIORNATA represents an anti-hierarchical artistic approach centered around the idea that things both within and around the artistic work are interconnected. During the years, this multiplicity has both expanded and imploded into non-vocal sculptures and installations as well as irregularly published newspapers, requiring both inward focus and outward attention.
With the time spent working at Pó de Vir a Ser as a point of departure, Sofie Amalie Andersen invites you for a guided tour around the former slaughterhouse in Évora. Among the sculptures, dust and words read aloud, she will fill the space with her thoughts, and activate the three key principles of GIORNATA, namely time, space and work, as the foundation for her ongoing project.
